MERTHYR TYDFIL AMBULANCE SERVICE

MY TERMINALLY ILL MOTHER WAS DUE TO SEE THE CONSULTANT, FROM ROYAL GLAMORGAN HOSPITAL, AT PRINCE CHARLES HOSPITAL. ACORDING TO THE NURSIMG HOME, THE SURGERY HAD FAILED TO BOOK THE THE AMBULANCE, SO THE NURSING HOME ARRANGED TO BRING HER BY CAR, WHICH WAS VERY PAINFUL FOR HER. I WAS TOLD TO GO TO THE AMBULANCE DESK, TELL THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY WOULD ARRANGE FOR HER TO BE TRANSPORTED.
AFTER BEING SEEN BY THE CONSULTANT, I WENT TO THE DESK AND WAS TOLD TWICE THAT IF SHE DID NOT COME BY AMBULANCE, THEN SHE CANNOT RETURN BY AMBULANCE. RATHER ANNOYED, I TOLD THE NURSING SISTER, WITH THE CONSULTANT, WHO HAD FOLLOWED ME OUT, WHAT HAD HAPPENED, AND SHE IMPLIED THAT THIS WAS ONLY TO BE EXPECTED.
AS WE WENT TO THE PUBLIC PHONE , TO TRY AND ARRANGE ANOTHER PAINFUL JOURNEY, A MEMBER OF THE CLERICAL STAFF RAN PAST HITTING MY MOTHER’S BAD FOOT, WHICH CAUSED GREAT PAIN.
I RECEIVED A LETTER, REGARDING MY COMPLAINT, FROM WELSH AMBULANCE SERVICES NHS TRUST, A FORTNIGHT AFTER THE DEATH OF MY MOTHER, IN WHICH THEY STATE THAT THE STAFF OF THE NURSING HOME WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR HER RETURN FROM HOSPITAL

I COULD NOT EVEN OBTAIN AN AMBULANCE TO TAKE HER TO ROYAL GLAMORGAN HOSPITAL, YET NOW, WITH THE AMALGAMATION OF ROYAL GLAMORGAN AND PRINCE CHARLES HOSPITAL, MEDICAL STAFF ARE OF THE OPINION THAT EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN TRANSPORT.
I BELIEVE THAT WE ARE LEFT WITH THE ONLY OPTION OF DEATH.
